Operation of the Stanley J5C09 is a breeze. Color-coded cables make the connection from the jump starter to the terminals on your dead battery simple. It may not be the lightest emergency battery charger out there, but that’s partially indicative of the build quality as well as the heavy duty battery that the unit contains. Portability is assured with the handle on top of the unit and it’s just the right size to fit into the trunk, ready for that unplanned battery or tire emergency. It has 500 amperes instant starting power and up to 1000 ampere peak power, so there’s no shortage of charge. The air compressor has 120PSI up its sleeve, so it’s no slouch either.

Since buying this Stanley Jumpstarter, I have had to pump up kids bike tires and those of my ride-on mower. Soccer balls and basketballs are also constantly getting topped up. No more trips to the gas station! In terms of actual jumpstarting, I have had to get my car going a couple of times, mainly due to the fact that the alternator needs replacing as it doesn’t charge the battery. The engine turns over a few times and then the magic happens!
