Schumacher PSJ-2212 – It’s Heavy Duty!

I have now thrown out my old jump starter unit thanks to the Schumacher PSJ-2212 jump starter. After being dissatisfied with my old one needing constant recharges and at times, not jumping my car, I decided to go above $100 for a brand new one and I’m glad I did. The Schumacher is easy to use and so far I have had no issues jumping my car or anyone else’s car for that matter. It lives up to its reputation of being a heavy duty jump starter.

The Schumacher PSJ-2212 doesn’t have some of the extras like a built in torch but I already have a torch and the fact that this unit will start a car that is totally dead, even on a freezing cold morning, makes this a first class jump starting unit if you ask me. If you want anything better then you will most likely need to pay a lot more money, as Schumacher’s PSJ-2212 packs a big punch for not much cash.

A 3 amp automatic charger means that it won’t overcharge when recharging, a digital read out lets you know how much charge it has and how close it is to full charge, and it has a fan which keeps the battery cool while it’s recharge. The extra long jump leads (50 inch cables!) mean I’m not messing about trying to find somewhere to position it and risk it falling of the engine bay; I can just sit the Schumacher PSJ-2212 down on the ground. At the end of the monster cables are heavy duty copper jaw clamps that are not going to slip off the car batter terminals during an emergency jump start. There’s a multi function digital display showing internal and vehicles battery charge as well as percent of charge. Last but not least, it features 2200 peak cranking amps foe 12 volt batteries. Fantastic heavy duty battery charger.

I’m very happy with this and I’m glad I spent the money I did. This should hopefully last me a lifetime. It feels well built and of a good quality and I haven’t found any problems with it so far. Other plus features are it is a bit smaller and lighter than other units I have owned which make carrying this around with me no problem. It also has a reverse hook up alarm if you happen to hook up the cables the wrong way round. Don’t leave home without the Schumacher PSJ-2212 jumpstarter!. More jump starter reviews.
